William Harold Stevens

July 2, 1930 — March 1, 2024

Clearwater

William Harold Stevens, 93, of New Port Richey, passed peacefully on Friday, March 1st, 2024. His departure comes with great sadness to all who knew him in the extraordinary and long life he lived.

William was born July 2nd, 1930 to Benjamin and Florence Stevens in his beloved hometown of Livingston, New Jersey. William would become the oldest son of their six children, surviving his eldest brother Benjamin Stevens Jr. who passed from pneumonia in his early adolescence.

After William graduated high school, he would go on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War. After returning to the United States, William was eager to resume civilian life. It wasn't long after this that he met Marian Volena and the two became inseparable. William and Marian married November 9th, 1957 and would later welcome their first child, Gary William, on November 9th, 1963 (their 6th wedding anniversary). Paul Lawrence, their second and final child, was born January 5th, 1965. It was in Florham Park, New Jersey that William and Marian would raise their children and build a beautiful life together.

In 1992, William retired from Automatic Switch and spent much of his retirement traveling with his wife and spending time with family and friends. In his free time he enjoyed swimming, walking, bike riding and of course his afternoon naps. William was a proud "PopPop" and loved his family unconditionally. He embraced his quirks and lived an unapologetically, authentic life.

William was predeceased by his parents as well as his siblings Benjamin, Jane, Lorraine, Donald and Patricia. William is survived by his wife Marian, sons Gary (Lara) and Paul (Tina), and their four grandchildren Julieann, Benjamin, Joseph and Chloe.
