William H. Anthony

William “Bill” Harrison Anthony, Sr. of New Port Richey, FL formerly of Altoona, PA was called home to be with the Lord on October 7, 2023. Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and coach who enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a devout Catholic and carried his love of God through his actions. 

 

Mr. Anthony was born on September 8, 1943 in Altoona, PA to the late Robert W. and Mary E. (Koch) Anthony. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Richard (Dick) and James Anthony; and sister Dorothy Berger. He is survived by his wife, Deborah (Oswald); two sons, William (Angela) Anthony of Silverthorne, CO. and Jason (Kelly) Anthony of Lakewood, CO; three grandchildren Jordan (Nathan) Marinkovich, Chase Anthony, and Emery Anthony; one great-granddaughter, Eliza Marinkovich; and eight siblings Mary Elizabeth (Nicholas) Bruno, Robert (Posie) Anthony, Susan Crouse, Joseph (Sandy) Anthony, David Anthony, Gertrude Anthony, John (Cindy) Anthony, and Sarah (Sally) (Edward) Franklin. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews. 

 

Bill graduated from Bishop Guilfoyle High School, Altoona, PA, in 1961 where he played football and later began coaching. Throughout the years, he was a dedicated coach to the Penn State Altoona Tennis and Diving Teams and many local football and basketball leagues. Bill took deep pride in teaching others his passion to work hard and play hard. 

 

After High School, Bill served his country in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. 

 

He retired in 2005 as an award-winning salesman for Sky Brothers and US Food Service and in 2008 as the unofficial stage-hand and mascot of the Allegheny Ballet Company. Bill enjoyed volunteering with organizations like Dreams Go On and visiting shut-ins as a Eucharistic Minister. 

 

In his retirement, Bill enjoyed traveling with his wife and family, swimming, playing cards, playing pickleball, and more. Bill and Deborah relocated to New Port Richey, FL in 2018, where he participated as a member of the Knights of Columbus. 

 

An intimate funeral mass will be held in New Port Richey, FL October 2023 and a larger memorial is planned for May 2024 in Altoona, PA.
