Roland “Chip” Dudley Waller, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and distinguished attorney passed away peacefully on April 18, 2026. He was 79 years old.
Born on December 6, 1946, in Madisonville, Kentucky, to Josiah Miller Waller and Beatrice Monk Waller, Chip moved to Dunedin, Florida, in 1950, where he would eventually build a life defined by service, athletic perseverance, and an unwavering love for his family.
Chip graduated from Tennessee Technological University before pursuing his passion for law at Mercer University. While at Mercer, he joined the ROTC and rose to the rank of Second Lieutenant, serving as a finance officer for the U.S. Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis. He continued his service in the Army Reserves for six years, receiving an honorable discharge as a Captain.
In 1971, Chip began practicing law, a career that spanned over five decades. He was a pillar of the legal community, known for his integrity and sharp mind. Outside of the courtroom, Chip was a formidable athlete. A lifelong enthusiast for physical challenges, he completed numerous triathlons, reaching a pinnacle of endurance by finishing the Ironman in 1986. Above all his professional and athletic achievements, Chip’s greatest pride was his family. He shared 54 beautiful years of marriage with his wife, Patricia Murphy Waller, who remained the apple of his eye. Together, they raised three children: Jennifer (John Ricks), Jacqueline, and Jeffrey “J.J.” (Elizabeth).
Chip was a constant source of wisdom and support for his five grandchildren: Madeline, Eli, Miller, McCall, and Smith. He is also survived by his sister, Diane Waller.
His legacy of dedication—to his clients, to his country, and most fervently to his wife and children—will be cherished and missed forever by those who knew him.
Chip's family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 5th, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Trinity Presbyterian Church of Seven Springs, 4651 Little Road, New Port Richey, Florida 34655. Chip's memorial service will follow at 11:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers and in Chip’s honor, the family would like donations to either the Pasco-Hernando State College Cross Country Team, to support his daughter's program where she serves as the head coach and he was her biggest fan. The donations will be used to help support shoes and uniforms for the team. Pasco-Hernando State College, 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey, FL 34654. Or donation can be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church of Seven Springs, 4651 Little Road, New Port Richey, Florida 34655.
