Richard Charles Sengel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on July 12, 2026, with the love of his life, his wife Mary, by his side in his favorite reclining chair.

Richard was born on November 13, 1945, in Brooklyn, New York, to Marie and Adolf Sengel. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Joseph Sengel, who passed away in 2006. He is survived by his loving sister, Elaine Healy, and his brother, Thomas Sengel.

In 1967, Richard married his childhood sweetheart, Mary Munno, beginning a beautiful love story that spanned nearly six decades. Together they built a life in Staten Island, where they raised their four beloved daughters: Rosemary Ocampo, Laura Rivera, Pamela Cupo, and Christine Stanley. Richard was a proud and devoted father who treasured every moment spent with his family.

He also leaves behind his cherished sons-in-law, Benjamin Rivera, Richard Cupo, and Michael Stanley; his ten adored grandchildren, Richard(Tiffany), Benjamin(Anna), Sarah(Nick), Nicholas(Taylor), Stephen, Dylan, Anthony, Donovan, Victoria, and Matthew; and his two precious great-grandchildren, Liam and Eliana, all of whom brought him immeasurable joy.

Before beginning his life with Mary, Richard proudly served his country in the National Guard. On June 3, 2026, he and Mary celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary a testament to a lifetime of unwavering love, devotion, and partnership. Their love was evident to everyone who knew them.

Richard dedicated 26 years of service to UPS in Manhattan’s East Village before retiring. He and Mary later fulfilled their dream of moving to Florida, where they enjoyed their retirement surrounded by sunshine, family visits, and the simple pleasures of life.

Richard found happiness in fishing, boating, and taking great pride in maintaining a beautiful lawn. He never passed up the opportunity to tell a joke—especially the corny ones that made everyone groan before they laughed. His sense of humor, warm smile, and kind heart left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

A man of deep faith, Richard lived his beliefs every day and passed those values on to his daughters. His love for God, his family, and others guided the way he lived his life. Family was always his greatest joy, and he made sure those he loved knew just how much they meant to him.

Richard will be remembered for his generosity, his unwavering love for his family, his quiet strength, and his ability to make others smile. He leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, laughter, and unconditional love that will continue to live on through the many lives he touched.

He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
