Pauline Neri Shaver, born November 14, 1937, in West Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully in her home in New Port Richey, Florida, on December 3, 2025, at the age of 88, with her family by her side.
Pauline is survived by her beloved children, Joe and Perri, and her grandchildren Joelle, Tori, Nick, and Julie, who brought her endless pride and joy. She is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Dave, the love of her life, and by her youngest son, Marty, whom she carried in her heart for the rest of her days.
Pauline was a woman shaped by early discipline, deep faith, and an unmistakable spark. Even as a girl, she moved through the world with a blend of grace, humor, and quiet rebellion, finding her own way within structure and carrying those traits into adulthood. She had a natural steadiness about her, yet also a boldness that surfaced whenever life asked her to step forward.
At the heart of who she was lay a profound willingness to say yes to the work God placed in front of her. She did not seek recognition or set out with a grand plan; she simply responded with compassion and courage when she saw someone in need. That instinct, grounded in faith, became the foundation of The Angelus. She believed deeply in dignity, in purposeful service, and in the quiet power of showing up with love.
Her love for her family was steady, practical, and expressed most often through action. Pauline cared for her children and grandchildren with a kind of scrappy, determined devotion that kept everyone moving forward. She believed in preparedness, resilience, and showing up even when life was difficult, and she passed those values on to the next generations. Her way of loving was rooted in responsibility, protection, and a deep concern for her family’s well-being. She celebrated their joys, worried through their challenges, and remained a guiding presence throughout their lives.
And at the center of her heart was her husband, Dave. She described him as “my partner, my teammate, and my home,” and she carried his presence with her every day after his passing. Their partnership was one of steady devotion, deep trust, and shared purpose.
Pauline’s faith was the well she drew from—daily, instinctively, and with certainty. She believed God’s guidance was real and present, and she trusted that every step she took, even the uncertain ones, would lead where it needed to go.
What she built at The Angelus reflects the very best of her spirit: a community rooted in love, strengthened by faith, and sustained by the belief that every life deserves dignity and belonging. Her legacy lives on in the people she touched, the home she created, and the enduring reminder that one heartfelt “yes” can change countless lives.
A Celebration of Life will be held in January at The Angelus in Hudson, Florida, the community she founded and nurtured with unwavering love. In true Pauline fashion, the gathering will include two of her favorite ways to mark a moment—soft serve ice cream and a glass of pinot grigio. Guests are invited to help themselves to as much soft serve as they’d like, a simple joy she believed could brighten even the longest day. Details will be shared once arrangements are finalized.
May we honor her by living with the same steady courage she carried, and by finding joy in life’s simple gifts—soft serve on a warm day, a glass raised at sunset—trusting, as she did, that love will always find its way home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to be made in honor of Pauline to The Angelus. (https://apps.theangelus.com/donate-now)
