Michael J. Smith

Michael J. Smith, cherished by many, passed away on July 4, 2026, in Trinity, Florida, at the age of 53, after bravely facing a long battle with ocular melanoma. Born on January 12, 1973, in Clearwater, Florida, he was the beloved son of Norma Cooper Smith and the late James Smith, and brother to the late Misty Smith.

Michael is survived by his devoted wife, Suzanne Smith, and his treasured children: DJ, Nathan, Joshua, Tyler, and Ashleigh Smith. He leaves behind his brother, Shannan Smith; sister-in-law, Kris Smith; nephew, JD Smith; and niece, Emilee Smith.

A man of passions, Michael found joy in fishing and cheering for Tampa Bay's sports teams, yet his heart truly belonged to his family. He was known for his warmth and was deeply cherished by all who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to honor Michael’s life at Faupel Funeral Home, Port Richey, on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Visiting hour is from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM.
