Joseph D. Santana age 90, of Largo, Florida formally of Detroit, Michigan passed away peacefully on Sunday September 24, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
Joseph was preceded in death by his parents Celso and Lucia Banuelos and his granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Harris in 1979. Joseph is survived by Loretta, his beloved bride of 67 years whom he loved immensely and 5 children: Charlotte (Kenneth), Dody (Diane), Debra (Donald), Joseph M. (Cathy), and Susan (Randy). In addition, he dearly loved 11 grandchildren 11 great grandchildren.
Joseph led a life rich in blessings with family and friends. Joseph served his country as a proud Marine during WW II, he had a successful career beginning as a truck driver, a profession he found very satisfying, and ending as an elected official with the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 299, where he served as a trustee. Joseph and Loretta then enjoyed 26 wonderful years of retirement at Down Yonder in Largo, Florida where they were touched by many friends. Joseph will be dearly missed and never forgotten.
A memorial mass will be held Friday, September 29, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Catherine of Siena 1955 S. Belcher Rd, Largo FL.
A second memorial celebration of his life will be held in Detroit, Michigan at a later date his final resting place will be in St. Hedwig Cemetery, Dearborn Heights, Michigan.
