John D. Scott

With deep love and sorrow, we announce the passing of John D. Scott, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, on June 24, 2025, at the age of 88. 

John was a man of quiet strength, enduring faith, and unconditional love. He touched many lives with his wisdom, warmth, and steady presence. He lived a life rooted in faith, hard work, and love for his family - values he passed down through generations.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Barbara K. Scott, with whom he shared 30 wonderful years of marriage having been united on June 23, 1995.

He dedicated 36 years of his professional life to General Motors, where he served in the Human Resource Division. His dedication, integrity, and commitment to helping others were deeply respected by colleagues and friends alike.

In retirement, John and Barb moved to Florida, where they lived in Heritage Springs for 13 years before settling at St. Mark's Village in Palm Harbor. Together, they built a warm and welcoming life surrounded by friendships, laughter, and shared memories.

John was the proud father of Eric, Doug, Cathy and Dianne; a loving stepfather to many beloved stepchildren; and the deeply cherished Grandfather of 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers, and is survived by his loving wife Barbara, and 3 brothers: Mike, Patrick, and Richard.

His life reflected the words of 2 Timothy 4:7: "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith."

Though our hearts grieve his absence, we take comfort in knowing that John now rests peacefully in the arms of the Lord. His memory will live on in every story told, every life he touched, and every act of love we share in his honor.

A celebration of John's life will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025 at 2pm at St. Mark's Village, Palm Harbor, Florida. Friends and loved ones are warmly invited to attend and honor the life of this remarkable man.
