Dan was born on December 28th, 1950 on the upper east side of New York City. Dan had a typical NYC childhood, stickball in the street, rode his sled on the snow drifts that the City had plowed into piles along the street, joined the Sea Cadets with his older brother and was spoiled by his older sisters.
Dan met Ernie Fleming, a neighborhood boy in grammar school and they became life long friends, delivering newspapers throughout Manhattan in the early hours of the morning and playing handball. Many years later they stood up for each other as best man as they married, while not brothers in blood they shared a mutual love and respect that lasted through all these years.
Dan went into the supermarket business and rose up to the ranks of a Store Manager with Wal-Mart. Dan and Anne met when they were both working for a large supermarket chain in the City. Their first meeting was over thirty-five years ago; they married in 1988 and had just celebrated their 30th anniversary. As Anne is an only child, Dan became the very much loved son to Anne’s parents, Buddy & Connie, the 4 of them vacationing and just enjoying each others company.
Dan and Anne moved to this area 6 years ago and both felt extremely blessed that they found a great place to live but most importantly that they made life long friends and this would be their last home.
Dan had a rough year medically through 2017 and 2018 but he was determined to get through his rehab so his and Anne’s life could get back on track, so that they could start to go out and enjoy things together again. He worked very hard to get back to the point where he was and everyone who knew him was extremely proud of him and his achievements.
You belong to the ages now Dan. May a band of angels escort you across the River Jordan to the promised land and may the road to paradise rise to meet you Dan, may the wind always be at your back, the sun shine warmly on your spirit, the rain fall gently on your face and until we meet again may the Good Lord hold you in the hollow of his hand. May your soul and all the souls of our departed family and friends who have gone before us to sleep in the sleep of peace, rest in eternal peace forever.
