Born in Manhattan, NY on May 26, 1968, Charlton Martin Williams, blessed his family as the second youngest of four siblings. “Chuck”, as he preferred to be called, spent his teen years in New York with his Trini family before uprooting and moving to the Tampa area. During those formative years, his passion for sports sprouted. Wasn’t long before he was a fan of the NY Mets, NY Rangers, Miami Hurricanes and as known to all (he made sure of it), Chuck established himself as an ardent fan of the Green Bay Packers …..to the point that Chuck is a proud part owner of the team.
Beyond his love for sports, Chuck had an incredible love and devotion to his family; a great father and an amazing husband. He and Jessica have been together over twenty years, with sixteen of those as a loving relationship against which all are measured against. A relationship that blossomed between two young CNAs, with one exclaiming upon return from vacation “who the heck is this J-Lo?”…..Jessica Lopes. He soon found out that this new CNA was more than a pretty face who fitted “well” in scrubs, she would eventually be his reason for discovering true love. Chuck was enamored with Jessica’s beauty and passion for her family. It wasn’t long before Chuck and J-Lo’s friendship bloomed into a courtship soon to merge Chuck, Jazmine and Jordan with Jessica and Rhaeshawn, that eventually led to a modern version of the Brady Bunch, following the birth of Ayden.
The Williams family was founded. The year was 2007.
Chuck, born out of a loving family, enjoyed his second family….The Xaviers. Lucy, Joe, Sandy, Muc, Lisa, Kevin, Venessa, Melanie, Stephanie, Nick, Matthew among others. Soon, Alison, Rick, Tiffany, Britney, Krishen, and Mama Pearl soon discovered the same. Family gatherings were all too common between the two families, regular events where stories and fun times were shared, were primarily an opportunity for Chuck, Ayden, Jordan, Rhaeshawn, Kevin to engage in conversations and parlays. How he wished that London game between the Packers and the Giants had turned out differently….not just for a win, but knowing he would lose those important bragging rights; Kevin would regularly remind him how his Giants edged the Packers 0-2.
Looking for Chuck when not in his sports realm? Everyone knew that would be the cruise ship. Sporting his trademark swim trunks, inverted cap and those beaded bracelets, that Jessica loved oh so much (insert sarcasm), you’d find him on the lido deck kicking rounds of mini-golf. The good sport that he was, he reluctantly wore those sometime embarrassing matching shirts.
And so, here we are, left with an enormous void…that contagious smile, that unmatched love of family, this relentless passion for life, an unselfish humanitarian, but most of all…..a great father and devout husband. His energy lives on in all of us.
Next time you see a Packers’ jersey or watch a Green Bay game,
Know that he’s screaming “Go Pack Go !!!”
