It is with heavy hearts and cherished memories that we announce the passing of Albert John Kelly, affectionately known to family and friends as “Albie,” who passed away on October 17, 2026, at the age of 75.
Al leaves behind his loving wife of over 50 years, Jeannine Kelly; his son, Beau Kelly, and daughter-in-law, Jenny; and his daughter, Jailene Kelly. He was a proud and loving grandfather, known as “PaPa,” to his four grandchildren, Aiden, Carter, Ty Liam, and Ariana. He will also be deeply missed by his brother-in-law, Michael DeFilippo (Eileen); his cherished niece, Rhiannon Kelly, and her daughter, Aislin; and his nephew, Billy Kelly, and his family, Debbie, Emily, Hunter, and Penny, who also held a special place in his heart. He loved them all dearly.
Born on July 6, 1951, in Medford, Massachusetts, Al was the son of Albert Kelly Sr. and Anastasia (Crawford) Kelly. He spent much of his childhood in Medford before his family moved to Wilmington, Massachusetts.
Al proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded in combat and awarded the Purple Heart. His military service was an important chapter in a life marked by courage, resilience, and dedication.
A hardworking man throughout his life, Al began his career in construction and custom swimming pool installations. Later, he became the mailman everyone knew in his small New Hampshire town. His friendly nature and ability to connect with people made him a familiar face and a valued part of the community.
Funny, fun-loving, humble, and hardworking, Al was a man of honesty, loyalty, and generosity. He had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, always willing to lend a helping hand or share a laugh. Whether offering his handyman skills to someone in need or simply giving his time to those he cared about, his kindness and generosity reflected his faith and the values by which he lived.
Al found happiness in life's simple pleasures, especially fishing, hunting, listening to music, riding motorcycles, spending time with his family, and the companionship of his beloved Dobermans. One of his favourite sayings was “No Regrets,” words he proudly wore tattooed on the top of his right hand. More than just a saying, these words reflected his approach to life, embracing the adventures, experiences, and moments along the way.
Throughout his life, Al treasured the friendships he made, especially those with Bill Kidwell, Pete Thompson, and Gary Halley and his family. These lasting friendships held a special place in his heart. The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Bishop Miekel and his family, along with Father Joseph and Father Angel of Immaculate Conception Church, for their friendship, kindness, and spiritual support throughout Al’s nearly ten years as part of their church community. A special thank you also goes to the parishioners of Immaculate Conception Church, whom Al loved dearly. Their friendship, warmth, and fellowship brought him great joy and made the church a place he truly felt at home.
Al was predeceased by his parents, his three sisters, and his brother, as well as his dearly loved sister-in-law, Maria (DeFilippo) Kelly, who passed in 2020.
Al will be remembered for his humour, his kindness, his unwavering loyalty, and the love he gave so freely. Of all the things he accomplished and the lives he touched, his grandchildren were his greatest pride and his most treasured legacy. The love, laughter, and memories he shared with them will live on for generations to come.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 30, 2026, at Immaculate Conception Church, 8531 Bolton Avenue in Hudson, Florida, beginning at 9:00 a.m. with visitation and viewing, followed by a Requiem Mass at 10 a.m. Light refreshments will be served following the Mass.
A funeral procession will then proceed to Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida, for a scheduled arrival no later than 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Al’s honour can be made directly to the Immaculate Conception Church donation page.
