In Loving Memory of Adrienne Ellen Dill
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and friend, Adrienne Ellen Dill.
Adrienne peacefully passed away in the early morning of Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, at the age of 76. While our hearts are heavy with grief, we take comfort in knowing she is now in the arms of Jesus, free from pain and suffering.
Early Life and Career
Adrienne was born on January 12th, 1949, in Manhattan, New York, to Robert and Ada Rothman. She grew up in East Islip, Long Island, alongside her two siblings. After graduating from the University of Buffalo, New York, Adrienne earned a degree in Business and became the valedictorian of her graduating class. She went on to work as an accountant, dedicating many years to the accounting industry with a sharp mind and a quiet, steady commitment.
Passions and Pursuits
In her younger years, Adrienne was passionate about ballroom dancing and line dancing. She enjoyed traveling around the country, competing in line dancing contests, and finding joy in the rhythm of life. Her love for dancing was just one of the many ways she expressed her vibrant personality.
A Love Story
In November of 1998, Adrienne met Dan at a local restaurant in Tampa, FL. Their first encounter was memorable, as Dan mistakenly misunderstood her name, to which she responded with a warm laugh, “No, it’s Adrienne, like Yo Adrienne from the movie Rocky.” From that moment on, a spark was ignited, and soon after, they began dating. It didn’t take long for them to realize they were meant to be together. On June 26th, 1999, they married, beginning a life filled with love, laughter, and companionship.
Building a Life Together
Together, Adrienne and Dan built a beautiful home in Odessa, FL, where they lived for 21 wonderful years. During this time, Adrienne became an integral part of raising Dan’s children, Darren and Lauren. Her love, sacrifice, and devotion were evident as she poured her time and energy into helping to raise them. She was more than a stepmother; she was a loving and steadfast presence in their lives, and her impact will never be forgotten.
Community and Faith
Adrienne was of Jewish heritage, and in her adult years, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior. Her faith was an important part of who she was. She found great joy and fulfillment in her involvement with her local church, where she was actively engaged for many years. Adrienne had a heart for service and was always eager to plant seeds of faith wherever she could. She cherished Sunday morning worship, and her love for Christ was reflected in her everyday actions, from acts of kindness to offering support to those in need.
Courage in the Face of Adversity
In 2006, Adrienne was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. Despite this challenge, she remained determined and resilient. She participated in multiple drug trials, one of which was eventually approved by the FDA and is now used to treat patients with Parkinson’s disease. Adrienne never let her diagnosis limit her; she continued to live life to the fullest, enjoying time with family and friends, and learning everything she could about Parkinson's in order to better manage her condition. Her strength and courage were an inspiration to all who knew her.
A Legacy of Love
While we are filled with sorrow at her passing, our hearts are also full of gratitude. We are grateful for the gift of her life, the love she gave so freely, and the impact she had on all of us. Adrienne has now been welcomed into the Kingdom of Heaven, where she is at peace, free from pain, and surrounded by the love of Jesus. We find comfort knowing that she is embraced by Christ, along with all the saints, and is now truly living in His presence.
Adrienne leaves behind a legacy of love and family. She is survived by her devoted husband of 26 years, Dan Dill; her children Daniel Commander, Steven Commander, and Gabriella Gonzalez; her beloved stepchildren Arden Turner, Lynn Simmerman, Amy Carpenter, Darren Dill, and Lauren Latham; her dear sisters Gail Vassiliou and Cheryl Martin; her nieces Jamie Vasiliou and Abigail Martin; and her many cherished grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of her heart, her faith, and her enduring spirit.
Though we will miss her deeply, her gentle nature, her unwavering faith, and her quiet strength, our hearts are comforted by the hope we have in Christ. The mystery of death remains a painful part of our journey, but we know that this is not the end. Adrienne has entered into eternal life, and we will see her again.
Adrienne, we love you. Until we meet again, we will carry your love, your faith, and your example of courage in our hearts.
“When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: ‘Death is swallowed up in victory.’ O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting? The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brothers and sisters, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
